When the owners returned to their yacht at about 9:30 PM they found a deck hatch on their well locked monohull had been damaged and pried open using a piece of rebar that the thieves left behind. The thieves stole a cellphone and other personal electronics. A police report was made. The police visited the yacht and took photographs, but more than a week later have yet to provide the promised copy of the report.
DATE: 2019-02-16 02:00 Country Name: St. Lucia Location Detail: Rodney Bay Gros Islet EVENT: Theft HAND: 1 Stolen Items: 10′ west marine tender with 9.9 HP Mercury outboard SECURED: Locked DETAILS: A yacht anchored off Gros Islet had its new in-the-water and cable locked dinghy/outboard stolen overnight. A police report was made by phone, and the victims were promised an onboard investigation, but it did not happen. The victims flagged down a passing marine police boat, who also seemed disinterested.
In January, CSSN reported an incident of armed robbery (2nd hand) and attempted armed robbery (1st hand).The victims of the assault and armed robbery have made contact with CSSN and confirmed the contents of our original report.
Additionally, they advised that they had made prompt contact with their home country consular officials in Panama, and CSSN reminds everyone of this important step. The victims, having returned to their home country, report that they have had contact with the local Panamanian police, but that no progress has been made. No forensic evidence was collected, no arrests have been made, no goods recovered.

They slashed the tubes before departing. Another dinghy/outboard was stolen the same night from this remote anchorage. A third yacht anchored in this same bay had lifted and locked their dinghy, and reported no issues.
DATE: 2019-01-25 21:00 Country Name: Colombia Location Detail: Cabo de la Vela EVENT: Theft HAND: 2 Stolen Items: dinghy/2.5HP outboard SECURED: Not Locked DETAILS: An in-the-water and not locked dinghy/2.5 HP outboard was stolen from an anchored yacht at about 9 PM. The owner upped anchor to look for his dinghy and found a local fishing boat nearby with 2 men and a boy and saw his deflated dinghy/outboard inside their boat, before the fishing boat motored away. A second yacht anchored in the same bay discovered that their in the water and chain locked dinghy had been slashed. The third boat in the anchorage had lifted and locked their dinghy and had no issues.
