SECURED: Locked
DETAILS: Daytime break-in and burglary of a locked yacht in the South anchorage. The sliding door was damaged and the interior was badly ransacked/damaged as well. Thieves stole all power tools, camera/accessories and passport/drivers license. A crowbar used by the thieves was left behind. A police report was made.

CSSN NOTE: Apparently this is the 3rd recent incident, but no reports have been received. If you are a victim, please make a report !

DETAILS: Overnight and in-the-water and not locked panga/15HP outboard was stolen from a yacht in the northern anchorage.

STOLEN ITEMS: Gas can, attempted to steal dingy. Another boat reported attempt to steal their panga

DETAILS: While owners slept thieves untied the dinghy painter before discovering the locking cable that secured the dinghy/outboard and fuel tank. Diesel fuel jugs secured on the deck were also disturbed, but not taken. A spare fuel jug in the cockpit was not locked, and stolen.

A second yacht in the anchorage interrupted the attempted theft of their panga, and was able to scare the thieves away.

Reports were made to the marina and on the VHF net.

DETAILS: Owners were away for the night and left their yacht anchored near Sugardup unlocked. When they returned they discovered a thief had boarded and stolen cash from a backpack inside the cabin.

DETAILS: A yacht anchored alone in the Rio Chagres anchorage. On the third night the in-the-water and not locked dinghy was stolen. The owner had heard an outboard around 0430HRS and at 0500HRS he found the dinghy had been stolen. He reported the incident to the marina, on the VHF net and to the police.
