When they returned an hour later they discovered the anchor rode had been cut and the stainless anchor stolen. ID: 2464

A report was made to the marina/boatyard and on the VHF net. A substantial reward was offered and the dinghy recovered the next day. ID: 2440
DATE: 2019-10-29 01:00 Country Name: St. Martin (French) Location Detail: Grand Case EVENT: Theft HAND: 1 Stolen Items: 12 FT center console dinghy / 40 HP Honda outboard SECURED: Locked DETAILS: An in-the water but cable locked dinghy (center console / 40 HP Honda) was stolen overnight. The dinghy was not operable when stolen, and apparently the thieves abandoned it. A police report was made and the Gendarmes recovered the dinghy/outboard (only minor damage) and returned it to the owners.
CSSN recently published a report of a dinghy theft in French St. Martins lagoon. The victim has informed us that they decided to conduct a second search of an area that has been known to be used by thieves, and discovered the dinghy/outboard deeply hidden behind some fishing boats, but fully intact. They happily reclaimed it!

Current owner had purchased the dinghy secondhand and did not have a bill of sale, so no police report was made.
Owners report that they have recovered their dinghy/outboard. A second search of an area known to be used by thieves located the undamaged dinghy, deeply hidden behind some fishing boats. It was reclaimed.
