DETAILS: Woke up about 2 am to the sound of pounding on the deck. Got up and observed man climbing over locked gate on guest dock at Bas du Fort marina. As he walked away he kept looking back at me. My boat was stern to the dock in first position inside gate. Reported to marina staff in the morning and they said they had no security guards because they would not be allowed to do anything except call police.

Guadeloupe Bridges Remain Closed

(DATE: 2013-06-15) Ariane Graf of Marina Bas-du-Fort reports: The Authorities of Guadeloupe have informed us that boaters can no longer use the shortcut through the Riviere Salee, as the bridges are now closed and are expected to remain closed for at least another year. You will now have to round the island, either by the leeward side (Deshaies, Pigeon Island, Basse-Terre) or by Saint Francois and Pointe des Chateaux to the east.
