St. Lucia, Rodney Bay Area: Cruisers Hold VHF Forum on Security

The St Lucia Cruisers VHF Network controller reports that following the recent spate of break-ins and robberies, within the marina, a Forum was conducted over the imagesVHF Net, 19 January 2015.  Several recommendations were made, during that 35 minute broadcast:

  1. Tighten Security at main dock security gate. Require ID, Sign In Out and escort by Captain of Vessel to be visited
  2. Establish Security Team at MAIN Gate.
  3. Ban Martinique Ferries from C to G Dock Enclosure. Relocate ferry landing to J dock. Relocate Customs Shack accordingly to be outside IWW.
  4. Initiate patrols by cruisers within marina in conjunction with but separate from Guardsman Patrols
  5. Install infra-red powered camera at the west end of the Main Dock, between E and F Docks, such that movement of vessels up and down that waterway can be ACTIVELY monitored.rassemblement
  6. Hold general meeting with interested cruisers, Marina Management, Police and Security Contractor to work out upgraded security protocols.
