Local News sources in the Rio Dulce region have reported the death of a popular cruiser. At 9:45pm on November 17, 2017, the man and his 19 yr. old son were in their (reported unlit) dinghy when a larger vessel collided with them off the west coast of Caye Caulker, Belize. The man was knocked unconscious, suffered cuts and broken ribs and brain hemorrhaging. He was treated at a local clinic and later medevac’d to Canada. Life support was discontinued in early December after the extent of his brain injuries was known. The son had lesser injuries and was transported to Mexico for further treatment.
