(DATE: 2015-01-30)Two recent onshore incidents in St Martin (French) have called attention to what seems to be an increasing rate of incident reports . Both incidents happened to Cruisers while onshore at shore side restaurants. Both were grab and run type of incidents. While CSSN does not record onshore incidents in our database, we do record the crimes against yachts; and in 2014 St Martin was the third hottest HOTspot in the Caribbean, according to our reports. We have noticed that sometimes when crime onshore involving cruisers increases, the probability of that crime spilling over to yachts seems to increase. This special report will hopefully support each captain’s risk assessment when considering a visit to St Martin.
